After a lifetime spent denying it, I have finally come to the realization that what makes me really happy, more than anything, is working with my hands to produce good food for hungry people. Farming is a job, a way of life, and sometimes a mystery to people who live outside of our tight-knit group, so I am here to serve as a link between farmers (who often don't have the time or inclination to articulate their ideas, goals, or values), scientists (who are working tirelessly to provide new methods of production that will feed the world without destroying our valuable soils, water supplies, or wildlife habitat), and interested patrons of those farmers and scientists (notice I did not call you 'consumers,' which would suggest you are passive receivers in this system, which could not be further from the truth).
Anyone interested in joining the conversation on farming, global warming, environmental stewardship and the ethics of living a good life in a radically changing world should feel free to leave their comments and questions here, to be researched and answered by yours truly. I am excited to get started on this project, and look forward to seeing who comes along for the ride! All the best, Becca :)
